WorldFloating Office Rotterdam

A 4,000 m², three-storey office building floating on a 90 × 24 m concrete base in Rotterdam’s Rijnhaven, occupied since 2021 as the headquarters of the Global Center on Adaptation. Commercial-grade floating buildings are already in daily professional use, the question is no longer whether they work, but where they earn their return.

Maldives · announced 2022, in development
A development of 5,000 residential units planned across a 200-hectare lagoon near Malé, permitted by the Maldives Ministry of Tourism under an integrated tourism model. It is an announced project rather than a completed one, cited here for the scale at which a national tourism authority has been willing to licence floating hospitality.

Dubai ended 2025 at 80.7% average hotel occupancy across 154,264 rooms in 827 establishments, having taken 19.59 million international overnight visitors. Occupancy that high against inventory that large is a market absorbing everything it builds. Aquastra adds keys, covers and venue capacity on water, without waiting for land.
